Expressions with the word Poulet or Poule

 The French use the word “poule “ or “chicken” in many expressions including terms of endearment.  My favorite is “mon poulet” or “my chick” referring to a little boy and “ma poulette” for a little girl.

Another expression which means being an overly protective parent is “Être une mèr” or “Être un papa poule.”

A final popular saying is “Quant les poules auront des dents”meaning literally “When the chicken get their teeth” or “It’s not going to happen,“ or by extension, “Never!”
